Great Programs for GREAT FUTURES

Making Learning Fun

Your support provides engaging hands-on learning opportunities throughout the school year and summer. Last summer, Board Member and Physicist Dr. “C” ran weekly Science Activities for youth of all ages. Each activity introduced members to a different area of science.

Through lessons on how sound travels, kinetic energy, and beyond, members gained a greater understanding of the world. Several members reported that they too want to be scientists when they grow up because science is fun!

A Safe Environment

Safety is the top priority of the Boys & Girls Club of Camarillo. Our caring staff builds supportive
relationships with members, and we work closely with local law enforcement and community partners to provide a physically and emotionally safe experience for youth to grow. This includes engaging youth in programs such as SMART Moves, an age-based program to help kids navigate challenges such as peer pressure and responsible decision making, as well as providing mentoring and dedicating space in our facility for emotional awareness and reflection.

Workforce Readiness

Your support prepares youth for graduation from high school on time and with a plan for the future. Currently, women only account for 35% of STEM careers. However, our Club is working to empower girls to lead the way for the future of STEM. Although open to all members, it is consistently our female members who actively take part in our Friday STEM programs, which is done in collaboration with RC Makes and Foundry 805. Our Youth Employment Service program also helps many of our community’s youth find and maintain their first jobs.

Junior Entrepreneurs

Recently, several of our members
participated in a Junior Entrepreneur Program, in
partnership with the Camarillo Library and
Foundry 805. Each member worked to create a
business plan, marketing plan, and individual
pitch for their products. The members were able to
profit from their work at the Holiday Boutique.
One member, Courtney, earned more than $300!
His goal is to become an entrepreneur and use the skills he is gaining to connect people with the products and services they may need in the future.
